1. Poor Surface Preparation

Not cleaning the area properly can prevent new stucco from sticking. Use a wire brush to remove loose debris and ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying new stucco.

2. Incorrect Mixing

Failing to mix stucco according to the instructions can lead to poor consistency. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for a smooth and uniform mixture.

3. Skipping the Bonding Agent

A bonding agent helps new stucco adhere to the old surface. Without it, the repair might not last. Apply a bonding agent to the prepared area before adding new stucco.

4. Improper Application

Applying stucco layers that are too thick or too thin can cause cracks. Apply layers no more than 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick and allow each layer to partially cure before adding the next.
